For this week's Fam Share, we'd like to take a moment to share these incredible photos from the New Democracy Coalition's Boycott Fanuiel Hall Action this past Saturday. The action featured an incredible lineup of Black voices, including poets, community and faith leaders, as well as Sean K Ellis, whose inspiring story is now featured on Netflix.
NDC is a powerful organization, and their efforts to boycott and change the name of Fanuiel Hall embodies a key struggle in Boston's racial reckoning. There is not a single Black vendor in Fanuiel Hall, and the square itself is named after a slave trader—Peter Fanuiel—and was used for early slave auctions. BAO stands in outrage with The New Democracy, and invites you to connect with the NDC and support their efforts of activism.
The New Democracy Coalition's work is so important, and we are proud to share these photos of the protest taken by Nate Lamkin. We also give a shout out to the Freedom Fighters Coalition for their support and solidarity at this protest.
